Presentation Abstract:
- Semiconductor-metallic hybrid nanocomposites: preparation, electronic properties and their potential applications in photo-electronic devices
Localized surface plasmons have been shown to provide substantial efficiency enhancement in photoelectric effects with a range of semiconducting materials and devices due to the scattering from metal nanoparticles near their localized plasmon resonance. This would enhance the light absorption and the photocurrent obtained in any PV and LED configuration. This talk will summarize the collective optical and electrical properties of Core-shell metal-semiconductor hybrid nanostructure and how these properties depend on the size, shape of the metallic core and semiconductor shell thickness. Different methods to fabricate metal-semiconductor hybrid structures will be discussed in details. This talk will also highlight the possibility of using these nanocomposites to fabricate quantum dot solar cell devices, LED and Lasers.
