Biography:

Mr. Mukhopadhyay has been popularizing science in India for the last 32 years with resounding success. With his background in Mechanical Engineering, he has created numerous interactive and efficient exhibits in all the Science Centres in the country for effective communication of Science & Technology. Because of his excellence in creating highly communicative exhibits, the NCSM has received wide national and international recognition. Many of the science centres abroad now have exhibits created by him. During the period of the his work in the field of science popularization, he has been a key figure in leading the science popularization movement and during his tenure of work as the Director General of NCSM, India till January 2009, when he retired, the NCSM has grown from a 2-unit organization to an all-India organization operating from 42 units spread all over India of which 27 are run by NCSM. His leadership in the field has been recognized worldwide for which he was awarded the prestigious Roy Shafer Leading Edge award for experienced leadership by the Association of Science and Technology Centres (ASTC) in 2008 at Philadelphia.
