Biography:

As Project Director I lead the development and fit out of the first Science Centre in Ireland, W5, as part of Northern Ireland Landmark Millennium Project. This included strategic and business planning, procurement, recruitment and exhibition development. In 2001 I became the founding Chief Executive of W5 and developed and delivered a multi award winning Science Centre in all its aspects. From June 2012 I have developed as an international consultancy helping with EU procurement and strategic development of exhibitions, science and education centers in Europe and the Middle East.

Storming, Norming, Performing?

In this talk I will discuss the challenges of setting up a Science Centre as part of the Landmark Millennium Project for Northern Ireland. This will discuss what worked - developing a value driven framework; what didn’t work - the complexity of governance arrangements; the funding challenges and how they were overcome.
