Biography:

Ms. Shireen Sabanegh Deputy Director for Education and Programs at the Children’s Museum Jordan. She received her BA. In Fine Arts from the Applied Science University in Amman and eventually earned her spot as senior designer at Intermarkets Design Firm in Amman. After her five-year career in the design and marketing field and with the arrival of her first child Yasmine, Shireen decided it was time for a change of scenery and moved to a career in Education, where she was offered to share her passion for art and design with eager students at The Amman Baccalaureate School. During her last year as a teacher she was hired by The Children’s Museum Jordan as a free-lance content developer to help them set up the programs department at the Museum and that is when she discovered her true passion. Shireen has been heading the Museum’s Education Department full time since 2008. Streamlining the Learning Process and Delivering

- Learning Objective/s:

Innovation in implementing a learning agenda: examples of out-of-the-box innovative approaches to learning and education.

- Content:

What is a learning agenda and how can it be implemented? What is the impact that we aim to create and how do we achieve it? With often limited resources, innovation in delivering a learning agenda is critical. As museums and science centers, we have a responsibility towards sparking curiosity and imagination at a young age but can we do that year round? How can a library, gardening area or a small facility be turned into hubs for innovation? The Children’s Museum will be sharing its experiences in defining learning objectives and turning every learning opportunity into another spark of imagination.

Re-discover the Familiar through the Unfamiliar

- Learning Objective/s:

Attendees will be presented with innovative ideas on how to establish themselves as an integral part of the community while maintaining and strengthening their identity and mission.

- Content:

What do DNA and Mothers’ Day Celebration have to do with each other? Does conducting electricity have anything to do with civic competence? Our award winning Celebrations Program and our Community Connections Program both enable young minds to celebrate, observe and participate in important occasions but through learning and hands-on programing. Nurturing children’s civic competence and a sense of national identity are among the key learning objectives of the Children’s Museum Jordan. However, we also aim to nurture the development of global citizens who contribute to their society. Participants will learn how the Museum develops and implements these programs and really makes an impact.
