Rana Dajani is currently a professor of molecular biology at the Hashemite University in Jordan. Her area of expertise is epigenetics and biomarkers of trauma among refugees. Through her leadership, she has introduced national and regional stem cell laws and presided over numerous scientific boards and United Nations councils, most recently as the President of the Society for the Advancement of Science and Technology in the Arab World. Visiting professor at Harvard, Yale, MIT, Jepson School of Leadership and Cambridge. ISC and TWAS fellow.

A tireless supporter of building indigenous research capabilities in the developing world and creating a mentoring program to support women scholars in STEM that was recognized by the National Academy of Sciences. Rana is a social entrepreneur and global thought leader. She is the founder of We Love Reading, a grassroots initiative to create changemakers in underserved communities by fostering a lifelong love of reading. A recipient of the UNESCO International Literacy Prize, We Love Reading has established more than 8,000 locally run libraries in over 70 countries.

Rana has also been recognized as a Fulbright, Eisenhower, Robert Bosch, Ashoka, Yale Morse Fellow and Yidan Global Fellow at Harvard Graduate school of Education,
On the list of the 100 most influential Arab Women and receiving the Jacobs social entrepreneur award, Nansen UNHCR refugee award, and the Schwab Social Entrepreneur Award.

Her 2018 book Five Scarves: Doing the Impossible — If We Can Reverse Cell Fate, Why Can’t We Redefine Success? challenged global policy makers to address ongoing inequities in education and employment, while also putting forward a new paradigm for measuring success in an evolving world.

تشغل رنا الدجاني حاليًا زميلة في زمالة يدان العالمية في كلية الدراسات العليا في جامعة هارفارد، وهي أستاذة في علم الأحياء الجزيئي في الجامعة الهاشمية في الأردن. مجال خبرتها هو علم الوراثة اللاجينية والمؤشرات الحيوية للصدمات النفسية لدى اللاجئين. ومن خلال قيادتها، أدخلت قوانين وطنية وإقليمية للخلايا الجذعية وترأست العديد من المجالس العلمية ومجالس الأمم المتحدة، وكان آخرها رئاستها لجمعية النهوض بالعلوم والتكنولوجيا في العالم العربي. أستاذ زائر في جامعة هارفارد وييل ومعهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا وكلية جيبسون للقيادة وكامبريدج.

داعم دؤوب لبناء القدرات البحثية المحلية في العالم النامي وإنشاء برنامج إرشادي لدعم الباحثات في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات والذي تم الاعتراف به من قبل الأكاديمية الوطنية للعلوم.
رنا رائدة أعمال اجتماعية ورائدة فكر عالمية. وهي مؤسسة مبادرة ”نحن نحب القراءة“، وهي مبادرة شعبية تهدف إلى خلق صانعي التغيير في المجتمعات المحرومة من خلال تعزيز حب القراءة مدى الحياة. حازت رنا على جائزة اليونسكو الدولية لمحو الأمية، وقد أنشأت أكثر من 8000 مكتبة تدار محليًا في أكثر من 70 دولة.
كما حازت رنا أيضاً على جائزة فولبرايت، وآيزنهاور، وروبرت بوش، وأشوكا وزمالة ييل مورس. على قائمة أكثر 100 امرأة عربية مؤثرة، وحصلت على جائزة جاكوبس لريادة الأعمال الاجتماعية، وجائزة نانسن للاجئين من مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، وجائزة شواب لريادة الأعمال الاجتماعية.

كتابها الصادر عام 2018 بعنوان ”خمسة أوشحة: القيام بالمستحيل - إذا كان بإمكاننا عكس مصير الخلايا، فلماذا لا يمكننا إعادة تعريف النجاح؟ تحدت فيه صانعي السياسات العالمية لمعالجة أوجه عدم المساواة المستمرة في التعليم والتوظيف، مع طرح نموذج جديد لقياس النجاح في عالمنا اليوم.
