EMME Summer School 2015

The second edition of the Summer School, EMME 2015, was hosted by the Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), Egypt, 5-10 September, welcoming more than 20 speakers/trainers in the field of informal science education and communication, and 17 professional participants from the North Africa and Middle East region, preparing to become future Science Center Leaders.

The Opening Ceremony featured a talk from Mr. Reinhold Brender, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, who stressed on the importance of collaboration between Mediterranean-basin countries. The Summer School was presented by the two Promoting Networks, illustrating the project’s philosophy, by Sawsan Dalaq, President of NAMES and Director of the Children’s Museum Jordan, and Rosalia Vargas, Past-President of Ecsite, and President of Pavilhao do Conhecimento – Ciencia Viva. Mr. Yoslan Nur, Program Specialist at the UNESCO then delivered the Technical Partner's speech; his attendance highlighted the importance of science communication as an educational catalyst in both developed and developing countries. The generous support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS), as well as the Science and Technology Development Fund, was recognized in the opening speeches.
