Monastir Sciences Palace is a non-administrative establishment created according to the law n° 36 - 2007 of 4th June, 2007 and placed under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Mission:

Monastir Sciences Palace’s objective is to create an intellectual, cultural and scientific dynamics among the different categories of citizens.
Monastir Sciences Palace always searches to broaden its scope through national and international partnerships.

In order to strengthen the bond of scientific and cultural cooperation with foreign scientific centers, Monastir Sciences Palace already had and always searches for maintaining relations with different international cooperation:

The principal activities:

  • Contributing to the promotion and dissemination of sciences for citizens.
  • Raising awareness and educating the public about the methods and the scientific discoveries.
  • Disclosing the scientific culture and the culture of entrepreneurship.
  • Organizing distance conference.
  • Encouraging the creation of innovative companies and helping higher education graduates to create their own projects.

The spaces of Monastir Sciences Palace:

  • Practice space:  

In order to integrate people with special needs. This space is intended to visitors with disabilities: This space is intended to visitors with disabilities:

  • Visitors with limited mobility:  
    • The spaces of the science palace are accessible to disabled visitors.
    • Manual armchairs are as well available for these visitors: adults and children.
  • Visitors with mental handicap:
    • For these visitors, exhibitions come in the form of simple and attractive presentations (interactive models, audiovisuals, game objects)
    • Visitors with visual handicap
  • Multimedia space :
    • Visio conference: Monastir Sciences Palace organizes live Visio conferences in different subjects and with different towns either national or international.
    • Language laboratory:  This is a multimedia space for multi-disciplinary education, language learning, distance learning, and teaching of science. This laboratory is used for :
      • Making training courses in English language in different specialties.
      • Providing E-Certification and E-Learning
    • Two learning rooms by distance: These rooms are intended to organize distance conferences in different scientific fields using new communication technologies for the benefit of various sectors.
    • Audio-visual digital studio :  This is analogical and/or digital sound recording audio-   visual studio which is equipped with all the necessary equipment for the audiovisual productions, Monastir Sciences Palace aims to exploit it in order to produce digital scientific supports for all the educational levels like mathematical portal and  documentary films, and its designed programs aim to:
      • Reflect the scientific and cultural wealth of Universities by giving the speech to researchers in the purpose of a genuine popular science.
      • Register video lessons to be transmitted via the Internet. These video lessons will represent the center of the students’ learning process, from which they move to the training course in a hypertext mode. 
    • Digital crossroads: This space aims to the mediation of digital technology. It permits to propose a system of mediation and assistance to persons in difficulty face to the invasion of the new technologies, fundamentally relational.
    • Media library:  It is a scientific and technical library. Its multimedia collections (books, albums, journals, CD-R, selected Internet sites…) are intended for the general public.
  • Scientific and cultural space:
    • Amphitheatre: This amphitheater contains 835-seat, with a technical and video- integrated area. It is used for:  
      • Scientific events.
      • Conferences in various fields.
      • Cultural activities about different themes and taking advantage of the multimedia support.
    • Gallery: This space presents different exhibitions (books, computers, scientific and cultural productions...)
    • Discovery room
       Monastir Sciences Palace seeks to present the following eight museum exhibitions in the following areas:
      • Aquaculture; Boat Mechanics; Simulation of ship maneuvering; Flight simulators; Geology;-Astronomy; Optical System; Show space of 3D movies.
        It is designed to children from 8 to 15 years and to different categories of visitors in order to:
        • Raise their curiosity and interest in science and technology.
        • Experience electronics, mechanics and robotics, observe the laws of the ecosystem, be aware of their individuality, discover other cultures, and produce messages… Children learn about the world while having fun!
  • Entrepreneurship and Job space :

This space is reserved to : 

  • Disseminate pedagogic approaches specific to entrepreneurship.
  • Study the feasibility of projects and ensure their monitoring
  • Provide the E-Certification
  • Edition space: It ensures the design and publication of information materials, education and popularization of science.
  • Mobile sciences : The primary objective of this space is to make the scientific message accessible and close to everyone, and this is by :
    Organizing exhibitions, workshops, scientific visits by using Monastir Sciences Palace’s bus.
