Biography:

Hanaa Hosny received her Bachelor Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering in May 2003 from Alexandria University, Faculty of Engineering. She was hired in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), Planetarium Science Center (PSC) since December 2003 as a Science Education Specialist. She worked as an international business coordinator in RHM company (Aramco’s subcontractor) in KSA, and then moved to SCITECH Science Center (AL Khobar) as an educational program coordinator from May 2006 to May 2007.

She joined the BA again in April 2009 as the Head of the Educational Programs and Events Unit at the Planetarium Science Center (PSC), then the Head of Programs and Events Section since June 2013 until 2022 and she is now acting as director of the Planetarium Science Center of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Ms. Hosny’s main interest lies in the dissemination of science, the scientific method and the values of science to the general public with special emphasis on school and university students.

Ms. Hosny is initiated and got involved in programs to foster scientific culture within the general public from all ages and sectors of the Egyptian society. She worked hard to promote science education among school and university students, connecting informal and formal science education, through launching multiple programs and activities in collaboration with different cultural and educational institutions in Egypt, as well as pioneers among science museums and institutions all over the world, in the fields of STEM Education and science communication, to promote and develop modern educational techniques among new Egyptian generations.
