Biography:

Professor Dr. Şirin Karadeniz boasts an impressive academic journey with a Bachelor's, Master's in Computer Education, Ph.D. in EdTech, and an illustrious career marked by leadership roles and substantial contributions to the field. Her expertise is widely acknowledged through extensive publications, lectures, and seminars on the integration of cutting-edge technologies into educational practices, the development of learning designs nurturing 21st-century competencies, and the advocacy for STEAM education.

Her distinguished career encompasses roles such as President of Bahçeşehir University (BAU) from 2019 to 2023 and Vice President of the Turkish Basketball Federation since 2021. She has also served as the Vice Chairman of CIFAL Istanbul, an esteemed center affiliated with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. Previously, she held positions as Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Chairperson of Innovative Education & Research Centre, and Centre for Teaching & Learning. Her active involvement extends to organizations such as the Turkish Industry & Business Association, the Association of the Future of Education, and Foundation of Bahçeşehir Uğur Educational Institutions.

Her impactful leadership includes curriculum development in computer science, artificial intelligence, global citizenship, and climate change for learners of all ages. She also designed and led trainings to enhance technology leadership for teachers and principals. Her unwavering commitment to education is further exemplified through her role as an Academic Commission Member in development of Computer Science curricula for primary, secondary, and high schools under the Ministry of National Education from 2016 to 2017. Since 2016, she has led the R&D of the Harezmi Educational Model and continues to spearhead its dissemination to all schools in Türkiye.

In recognition of her tireless efforts to enhance the quality and inclusivity of education, she received the Woman Educator of the Year award in the Women's Leaders of Technology competition organized by Microsoft and The Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey in 2016. Additionally, she earned the BAU Social Benefit Award in 2018.

Professor Karadeniz has shared her expertise with national and international projects, serving as a consultant, researcher, and leader for esteemed institutions such as Scientific Research Council, Ministry of National Education of Türkiye, UNICEF, the Rotary Foundation, World Bank and European Union. Her contributions continue to shape the future of education on a global scale.
