Hanaa Hosny received her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, in May 2003. She began her career at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Planetarium Science Center (PSC) in December 2003 as a Science Education Specialist. In May 2006, she joined the SCITECH Science Center in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, where she served as an Educational Program Coordinator until May 2007.
Ms. Hosny returned to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in April 2009 as Head of the Educational Programs and Events Unit at the PSC. She later served as Head of the Programs and Events Section from 2013 to 2022. She is currently the Director of the Planetarium Science Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Her professional interests center on science communication, the promotion of scientific literacy, and the dissemination of scientific thinking among diverse audiences, with particular emphasis on school and university students. Over the years, Ms. Hosny has initiated and led numerous programs aimed at strengthening scientific culture within Egyptian society.
She has played a key role in connecting formal and informal science education by developing a wide range of programs, festivals, and outreach activities across Egypt. She works closely with national and international educational, cultural, and scientific institutions to deliver high-quality learning experiences. Her efforts in STEM education and science communication continue to support modern teaching approaches and inspire young people to think critically, explore new ideas, and engage with science in meaningful ways.
