Samar Kirresh, Palestinian from Jerusalem. Founder and Managing Director of AlElieh for Science Environment & Art. Previously, she held the position of Principal Researcher at A.M. Qattan Foundation for 10 years. She sits on the Advisory Board for the College of Education at Birzeit University, the International Committee for the HSCI conference, and is an associate at Mozaic Strategies. Samar’s practice spans Maker Education, Science Art Pedagogy, Sustainability education and practices, and exhibit development, with extensive experience in research, training, festival management, and public, collaborative science–art programs. She put her academic experiences together with her passion and longtime engagement in research, art, tinkering, and making in founding AlElieh for Science Environment and Art in 2021, as the first Palestinian maker space in her home city of Jerusalem. AlElieh and Samar joined the UNESCO Chair for Education for Sustainability and Better Lifestyle in 2025. Samar holds a B.Sc. in Biology and Medical Technology and an MA in Science Education. She is a self-learner in visual arts and a maker following on her private art projects and co-founded artisans' participatory platform "Art Market Jerusalem".
