تقدّم هذه الورشة التفاعلية طرحًا نقديًا وعمليًا لإعادة التفكير في مفهوم مساحات الصُنّاع (Makerspaces)، بعيدًا عن اختزالها في كونها مساحات تحتوي أدوات وتقنيات متقدمة فقط. تنطلق الورشة من التساؤل حول هيمنة النماذج الغربية في تصميم وتجربة makerspaces، وكيف يتم في كثير من الأحيان نقل هذه النماذج إلى سياقات محلية مختلفة دون مراعاة الخصوصيات الثقافية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية.

من خلال خبرات عملية مستمدة من سياقات محلية وبيئات محدودة الموارد، خاصة من فلسطين ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط، تستعرض الورشة كيف يمكن لمساحات الصُنّاع أن تتحول إلى ممارسات تعليمية واجتماعية ذات معنى، تنبع من واقع المجتمع واحتياجاته، وتُعيد تعريف فعل “الصُنْع” بوصفه عملية تفكير جماعي، وتمكين، وبناء معرفة، لا مجرد إنتاج نماذج تقنية.

This interactive workshop offers a critical and practical framework for redefining the concept of "Makerspaces," moving beyond the narrow view of these hubs as merely containers for advanced tools and high-tech equipment. The session begins by questioning the dominance of Western models in the design and experience of makerspaces, examining how these models are often transplanted into diverse local contexts without regard for specific cultural, social, and economic nuances.

Drawing on practical experiences from local environments and under-resourced settings—particularly from Palestine and the Middle East—the workshop demonstrates how makerspaces can transform into meaningful educational and social practices. These practices are rooted in community realities and needs, redefining the act of "making" as a process of collective thinking, empowerment, and knowledge-building, rather than just the production of technical prototypes.

The workshop includes a collaborative, hands-on activity using simple and limited materials, allowing participants to experience "making" outside the traditional framework of high-tech tools. This activity is designed to encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and the integration of design with local context.
