Scitech is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to inspiring Western Australians to engage with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. While just under half of Scitech’s annual revenue is provided through ongoing support from the State Government, the remaining is generated through a diverse and innovative mix of ticket sales, private partnerships, competitive grants and the development of travelling exhibitions. This diversified revenue model not only strengthens Scitech’s financial sustainability but also enables it to expand its influence far beyond the walls of its physical Discovery Centre.
This presentation will explore how strategic partnerships have become central to Scitech’s growth and impact. By collaborating with industry, philanthropists, community organisations and national and international science centres, Scitech has been able to pilot new ideas, reach underserved audiences and deliver high-value STEM experiences across Western Australia and beyond. These partnerships often act as seed funding, allowing Scitech to design and build new exhibits and programs that evolve into self-sustaining business ventures—particularly its globally touring exhibitions, which now operate as a major reinvestment engine for future innovation.
Through this model, Scitech continues to amplify its mission, ensuring more people, in more places, can experience the power of STEM learning.
