Science Museum and School: A Cooperation to Improve Teaching, Learning, and Discovery

SMEC "Science Museum and School: a cooperation for teaching, learning and discovery" will run its 12th edition in 2016 from 2 to 8 October 2016. The course aims to strengthen the relationship between museum educators and teachers in order to use more museums as recourses for science education. SMEC takes place every year and has so far trained more than 250 professionals from 29 countries. After 10 years at the Deutsches Museum in Munich Germany, from 2015 onwards it takes place at the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milano Italy.

Abu Dhabi, 28 December 2015: The Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC) announced today that its ‘lema?’ Programme has surpassed all expectations in 2015. The programme, which is sponsored by Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala) and is conducted in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), has reached 32,370 students by running 882 workshops with over 120 schools visits.

Abu Dhabi, 20 December: The Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC) is continuing on the path to build a comprehensive innovation ecosystem in Abu Dhabi by adding another company to its growing roster of distinctive partners: Flat6Labs. The two entities signed an agreement during the opening week of TDC’s INNOVATOR Space outlining their intent to cooperate through their existing platforms to nurture and accelerate innovation in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi, 15 December 2015: Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC) and Intel Corporation announced the signing of an official agreement enabling both entities to share best practices and connect their respective state-of-the-art facilities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The agreement, unveiled at the recent opening of TDC’s INNOVATOR Space, will allow members of the INNOVATOR Space who are developing advanced projects in the Internet of Things (IoT) domain to access Intel’s Internet of Things (IoT) Ignition Lab in Silicon Oasis, Dubai, and to receive support from expert staff over there.

The Space opened Innovation Week activities in the country’s capital, and was attended by H.E. Major General Mohammed Khalfan Matar Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and a member of the Executive Council, and H.E. Dr. Mugheer khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of Health Authority and a member of the Executive Council.

Outstanding Science Communicators Awarded by Organizers of ADSF

Abu Dhabi, 21 November 2015 – As the 2015 Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF) draws to a close, the organizers of the festival, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC), have held a special award ceremony today to recognize the remarkable work of the Science Communicators who were part of this year’s event. Over 700 Science Communicators were selected from Higher Education Institutions around the UAE to deliver fascinating exhibits, workshops and shows to visitors of ADSF; with those demonstrating outstanding performance throughout the festival awarded at the ceremony.
