Innovators Show’s 2nd Edition Proves Roaring Success with Unique Innovations and Large Number of Visitors

• TDC awards developments funds to the six innovations
• Around 8,000 visitors this year

ABU DHABI, 07 March 2015: The Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC) announced today the recipients of its INNOVATOR Show development funds.  The six recipients were chosen from a breadth of almost 100 innovations showcased to around 8,000 attendees at INNOVATOR Show, that took place at the Abu Dhabi Corniche on the 5th and 6th March. 
The show, which provided UAE innovators with an opportunity and platform to showcase their innovations and creations, alongside the educational workshops, witnessed a large increase in the number of official and public visitors.

The 5 recipients chosen by judges based on set criteria are:

  • Aisha Al Suwaidi, Dhabya Al Hammdi, and Salma Al Braiki for the Smart Wheel Innovation in the Automotive, Mechanics, and Digital Fabrication category.
  • Hood Al Noamani, Hamad Al Remeithi, and Mohammad Al Romaithi for The Glove Innovation in the Robotics and Electronics category.
  • Maryam Al Shehi and Yrjan Abdul Samad for the New Wristband for Measuring Human Blood Pressure Innovation in the Sustainability and Life Sciences category.
  • Kurram Iqbal, Feras Shadid, and Ahmad Fathi for the UAE Falcon Drobot Innovation in the Aerospace category.
  • Prangphisut Deundes for the Concrete’ Innovation in the Art and Design category. 

The “People’s Choice” recipient, Rami Salman Farahat was voted by the show attendees, for his Rami RC innovation in the Aerospace category.
Majid Al Mail, Senior Manager and head of INNOVATOR Programme said:  “All the participants are winners. They all demonstrated ability to fuel collaboration, and challenge and inspire others to create and realize their ideas.  We are extremely proud of the success the innovators were able to achieve, and we congratulate the development fund recipients and look forward to seeing more innovators in our next edition.”
“We thank all the government and private entities that supported and sponsored such a prestigious event.  This was a joint effort that led to successful results by celebrating innovation and cultivating an innovation culture within the UAE community,” added Al Mail.

The show forms an integral part of INNOVATOR Programme, an initiative recently launched by TDC, to nurture innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship within the UAE Community by developing human capital in the Science, Technology and Innovation sectors. 

Commenting on this, Dr. Yehya Al-Marzouqi, Executive Director-Strategic Learning and Develepment at Tawzun, said “UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is putting in place enablers that will support knowledge-based economy. The main pillar of such economy is the development of human capital. Industry, government and academia need to further consolidate their efforts and work hand-in-hand in order to create a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation across the country.”
