Abstract
Humans are a storytelling species. Our cultural, personal, and other identities are connected to the stories we tell about ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
Such is the power of storytelling that it can also be effectively used to spread misinformation and even disinformation. Given the importance of science in our daily lives in the modern age, stories that convey false information can be dangerous, especially if they go viral.
The best way to combat these is through the very same power of storytelling – through telling compelling narratives that resonate with a given audience’s values and cultural context, but that contain accurate scientific information.
In connection to this, I want to share the experience we from The Mind Museum had in writing and producing our award-winning TV show “Mind S-Cool.” I want to share what we have learned in our attempts to use the power of storytelling in making science resonate with our audiences.
