We are excited to announce the launch of a new Workroom for the Making and Tinkering Community, designed to empower professionals in developing engaging and impactful hands-on activities.

This comprehensive Workroom will consist of five dynamic online sessions via Zoom Platform, guiding participants through the entire process of creating and implementing successful Making and Tinkering experiences for their audiences. We are thrilled to confirm that the Workroom will be led by Samar Kirresh, Founder & Director, AlElieh for Science, Environment & Art.

Workroom Schedule & Session Overviews:

All sessions will take place online via Zoom.

Session 1: Meetup

• Date: Tuesday, 8 July 2025

• Brief: This introductory session will focus on community building through icebreaker activities, participant introductions, and an overview of the Workroom's goals. Participants will be assigned a task to plan a preliminary Making and Tinkering activity for their target audience, utilizing translated resources.

Session 2: Planning

• Date: Tuesday, 15 July 2025

• Brief: A theoretical session dedicated to the foundational aspects of planning Making and Tinkering activities. Topics will include audience analysis, needs assessment, developing engaging and age-appropriate content, material preparation, designing activity spaces (including safety), troubleshooting, and best practices through role-playing scenarios.

Session 3: Outcomes & Challenges

• Date: Tuesday, 29 July 2025

• Brief: Participants will share their experiences from planning and testing their chosen activities. This session will involve discussions on successes, challenges, unexpected outcomes, and collaborative peer feedback to brainstorm solutions to problems encountered.

Session 4: Try it with Your Audience

• Date: Tuesday, 12 August 2025

• Brief: This hands-on session encourages participants to implement their planned Making and Tinkering activity directly with their target audience. Documentation through photos and videos will be encouraged, and regular check-ins will be provided for support and questions.

Session 5: Presentation/Application

• Date: Tuesday, 26 August 2025

• Brief: The final session will feature participants presenting their implemented Making and Tinkering activities. They will describe their planning and implementation processes, share key observations, discuss challenges and successes, highlight the impact on their audience, and reflect on their overall learning journey and takeaways from the Workroom.
