Abu Dhabi, October 25, 2015: Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC) presented its vision of empowering an innovative future workforce at GITEX 2015 and highlighted the important role of the connected worker in today’s workplace.
TDC, an Abu Dhabi government entity responsible for numerous successful and award winning initiatives is tasked with driving human capital development in the leading industries of the future, namely science and technology and plays a crucial role in realizing the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 to create a knowledge-based economy.
On behalf of TDC, Senior Manager and head of INNOVATOR Programme, Majid Al Mail, took part in a panel discussion focused on innovative technologies and their impact on the future workforce. In the discussion, Al Mail noted: “The internet and other emerging technologies, such as robotics and 3D printing, have seen undeniable growth over the past decade. Technology has revolutionized the way we live, learn, communicate, and do our business. It is our collective responsibility; industry, government, and academia, to equip our future workforce with the necessary skills and aptitude to embrace this growth. The next generation must be fast-thinking innovators for whom change is a natural progression. TDC’s different strategic initiatives are a testament of preparing our future workforce with the right innovation skills and aptitude, to help realize our nation-wide strategy.”
He added, “We must all work together to create support networks that encourage both innovation and alliances. As increased connectivity brings everyone together within mere clicks, we cannot forget the human element; the importance of relationships and face-to-face interaction with friends and colleagues.”
Instigator and owner of several hugely successful initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of science, technology and innovation, TDC’s portfolio of projects include the upcoming Abu Dhabi Science Festival co-organized with the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), the ‘lema?’ school outreach pogramme, and the eagerly awaited INNOVATOR SPACE, opening end of year and set to be the region’s first open access inventor workspace.
