Konya Science Center is organizing the 10th Konya Science Festival to be held in Konya, 3-6 August 2023, from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has announced the opening of the call for nominations for the 2023 UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science.

Ramadan Kareem! We are so excited to celebrate the holy month with NAMES family members! Let us meet on Zoom on Tuesday, 11 April, 8 pm GMT+2, with your favorite traditional Ramadan drinks.

In solidarity with our colleagues in Konya and the entire Turkish nation, in agreement with Konya Science Center, we have moved to postpone NAMES 2023 conference. We will not be making any future plans until the situation in Türkiye has stabilized and our colleagues in Konya Science Center are ready to reflect on their future plans. Meanwhile, we remain at their disposal for any support.

After 3 years of postponing NAMES Conference, NAMES 2023 Conference will take place 9-11 May at Konya Science Center, Turkey. NAMES Conference Program Committee (NCPC) is pleased to announce the Call for Session Proposals under the conference’s theme: Forward Together (معًا إلى الأمام). It is a call to gather as a community and discuss ways to maintain relevancy and deal with the challenges facing science engagement within our institutions, considering recent and ongoing global changes. Check the Session Proposal Guidelines and submit a session proposal before 23 February 2023.

In the first "My SciComm Hero", Maissa Azab, NAMES Executive Director, in collaboration with Ayman Elsayed, Senior Manager of Learning and Outreach Programs, Grand Egyptian Museum, and Former Director of the Planetarium Science Center, together interviewed Hoda Elmikaty, Bibliotheca Alexandrina General Coordinator and Former Director of the Planetarium Science Center.

Science may be a particularly important domain in early childhood, serving not only to build a basis for future scientific understanding, but also to build important skills and attitudes for learning.
NAMES “Getting Involved in Early Childhood Development” SciComm Mixer took place on Tuesday, 29 November 2022, 12 pm GMT+2.

Science centers and museums play an important role in spreading a love of exploration and increasing science literacy. Three NAMES Full Member institutions shared their approaches to extending the reach of their respective institutions through working with teachers and schools, supporting them in the tackling science in interactive hands-on settings that help develop and sustain an interest in science.
