Communicate, communicate, communicate; anytime, everywhere, to everybody! Communicate for the best outcome is imperative for any science center and museum; we need to be heard by the people, the general public in the first place, but also policy makers and educational institutions. Not only do we communicate scientific facts and updates, but we also raise awareness and we offer activities, events, and initiatives that the public and policy makers need to be aware of, support, and partake in. Online and offline communication are parts of the same edible plant; do we have a successful recipe to prepare a good meal?
In this reverse session, a diverse panel of speakers representing science center networks, science centers, individual science communicators, and science writers/journalists will each quickly present their own experiences in a capsule, highlighting one of the communication challenges they have faced, demonstrating a success story, a best practice, and/or a lesson learnt. Participants will then be asked to share their own stories, challenges, and/or dilemmas to be analyzed by both participants and speakers with the aim of reaching selecting the best ingredients for a successful communication recipe.
