Nowadays, museums and science centers are implementing various exhibit development models. This session will focus on such models as experienced by the Science Studio – A.M. Qattan Foundation, Palestine, the Children’s Museum Jordan, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Planetarium Science Center, Egypt.
The speakers will provide a very short introduction on the topic, then lead a discussion on the importance of engaging cross-departmental staff and community members throughout the ideation, planning, and fabrication of an exhibit. In round tables that are facilitated by the speakers, participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and lessons learned, and reflect on the contextual, socio-political, and cultural challenges different science centers are facing towards public engagement in science.
At the end, the speakers will present to the whole group the discussion’s outcomes and their recommendations on how to “create” collaborative projects, “connect” staff and expertise towards developing “contemporary, relevant, and empowering content and experiences”.
