Abstract:
Major institutions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the British Museum are using the concept of universality in terms of collections and exhibitions. Are there universal themes and approaches that are successful across cultures in science centers? Is the role of the Explainer and the tone of performances transferable across countries or do they reflect the conventions where they originated? With an increasing focus on partnerships and capacity building, how can we create the most of universality, respect and promote local environments and practice? With examples from the UK and the Gulf, Anthony will discuss both the premise and design of effective collaboration.
