Papers/Presentations

Objects and Imagination are processes of Transformation and Growth

Vivian and Malik will focus on the concepts of “capable” verses “competent”, and how a child can emerge as competent through process and action. Referring to Deleuze’s concept of “emergence” and “becoming”, a child is transformed from being only capable to “becoming” competent under certain social conditions where experiences and activities are designed in a “rhizomic” path. The speakers will rely on examples that focus on the integration of Drama and Science, arguing that with the integration of science and art in museum contexts, museum developers and leaders may open new opportunities for children emergence to “become” competent.
