Biography:

Chris Gary received his initial training as a mechanical engineer and has studied sociology at the University of Vienna. After some years in applied vocational training research, he joined the team of Vienna University Children's Office as a project developer and coordinator. In this regard, he has implemented foundational structures for international cooperation and exchange between Vienna University Children's Office with experts and practitioners in the area of science engagement, educational opportunities and social inclusion from all over the world. He has initiated the formation of a European Children's Universities Network with support from the European Commission, of which he is General Secretary since its establishment as a non-profit membership association in 2010. He has designed and conducted national and transnational projects in the area of outreach and science engagement, notably under FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+. Furthermore he organized conferences on this subject in several European countries, was speaker at international events and author of articles about science communication.
