A big thank you to “The Children’s Museum Jordan”, NAMES 2016 esteemed host, who made NAMES 10th anniversary very remarkable! The successful conference was hosted by
The Children’s Museum Jordan under the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan and the leadership of Ms. Sawsan Dalaq, Director of The Children’s
Museum. Ms. Dalaq was reelected President of NAMES for a second term (2016/2018). The reelection was submitted during NAMES 11th Board of Directors Meeting (BoD) that
followed the conference.
On behalf of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, Mr. Mohamed Elzonibat, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Education, attended the Opening Ceremony.
NAMES 2016 Conference solidified the status of the Network on the international arena with 230 delegates representing more than 25 countries. In addition,
there was a representation from the European Network of Science Centers and Museums (Ecsite) by Mr. Kim Herlev, CEO of Experimentarium; and the Association
of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC); represented by Mr. Bud Rock, President and CEO. The Opening Ceremony featured a documentary that highlighted the importance
of science to enrich our lives, as well as a Science Show, which shed light on the importance of the scientific applications on our daily life.
The three-day Conference included panel discussions and interactive shows, which stimulate inspiration and unleash creativity by introducing the concept of
“Reach” through main three subthemes: “Your Audience: Education for your Society”; “Your Content: Your Exhibits and Programs are a reflection of your community”;
and “Your Impact: Science Centers and Museums as catalysts of social change”. In addition, the conference included 6 interactive workshops. The conference featured
keynote speeches by eminent speakers: Dr. Omar Yaghi, Jordanian-American Chemist and Chair Professor of Chemistry at James and Neeltje Tretter, University of California;
and Mr. John Joseph, Director of Focus Education Australia Pty Ltd.
NAMES 2016 also featured an Exhibition Fair that included international exhibitors such as: TalentS|KCA, Techniquest, The Natural History Museum, AGT EUROEVENTS LTD, Hüttinger Interactive Exhibitions, Bruns B.V., Aurea Exhibitions, Kubik Maltbie, Sissa Medialab, Sertek Exhibitions,
Early Grade Reading and Mathematics Initiative, Ontario Science Centre, The Jordan Museum, Mind Webs, …
